Abstract:
El poder en la Edad Media es un tema de investigación que ha sido abordado desde muy diversas perspectivas y puntos de vista. Este trabajo prentende contribuir al conocimiento de su ejercicio en situaciones concretas. Son numerosos y diversos los medios de que se sirven los poderosos para actuar como tal y afianzar su posición, pero en esta ocasión sólo se presta atención a uno de ellos, el agua. Se trata de un elemento imprescindible para la vida, por lo que la regulación de su uso se hace necesaria en cualquier colectividad social; esto es lo que la convierte en un instrumento del poder. Para estudiar la cuestión se parte de la forma en que teoría y práctica del poder se interrelacionan, en general, y particularmente en la Corona de Castilla, se expone a continuación qué se entiende en este contexto por "poder" y su ejercicio, se analiza el caso concreto del los núcleos urbanos de la Corona castellana en la Baja Edad Media, finalizando el artículo con el estudio del agua como instrumento de ese poder.
