Abstract:
El estudio analiza las distintas connotaciones que tuvo el concepto de tiranía en la ideología política visigoda de los siglos VI-VII. En particular, se consideran las dos modalidades que alcanzó dicho término -modalidades derivadas del pensamiento clásico-: tiranía como usurpación del poder y como ejercicio abusivo del mismo. Esas modalidades se rastrean en la obra de autores tales como Isidoro de Sevilla y Julián de Toledo, entre otros. Asimismo, se determina qué argumentos se expusieron para actuar ante un poder tiránico y de qué manera los mismos traducen toda una caracterización de la monarquía local.
