Jerome is one of the main authors in the 4th century. However, we are not so much concerned about his theological writings as we are about the letters he wrote giving spiritual and practical advice to some of his friends and admirers. They clearly reflect his evangelical background and missionary zeal. In those familiar letters we can follow his train of thought: he had a conception of the public sector which differed significantly from that popular in his time. We will analyse letter CXXVII "To Principia, virgin", letter XXIII "To Marcela", and letter XXIV "To Marcela, noble roman lady”.
