The aim of this paper is to study technological strategies developed by the human groups who occupied the Alero Cuevas Rockshelter site (Pastos Grandes Basin, Salta Province Puna) during the Early Holocene, taking into account the relationship with two main topics: raw material availability in the regional scale and mobility. From a Human Behavioral Ecology perspective we discuss the selection of technological strategies in the ecological and social context of the Early Holocene. We conclude that mobility played a key role in the selection of technological strategies towards the procurement, transport and treatment of raw materials, and the selection of nonlocal high quality lithic resources like obsidian.
El objetivo de este trabajo es el estudio de las estrategias tecnológicas desarrolladas por los grupos humanos que ocuparon el sitio Alero Cuevas (Cuenca de Pastos Grandes, Puna Salteña) durante el Holoceno Temprano, tomando en cuenta su relación con dos aspectos principales: la disponibilidad de materias primas en la escala regional y la movilidad. Desde la perspectiva de la ecología del comportamientohumano se discute la selección de estrategias tecnológicas en el contexto ecológico y social del Holoceno Temprano. Se concluye que la movilidad jugó un papel de vital importancia en la selección de estrategias tecnológicas en torno a la obtención, transporte y tratamiento de materias primas, y en la selección de recursos líticos no locales de alta calidad como la obsidiana.
