| dc.description | En este trabajo discutimos si el proceso de progresiva autonomía de la ciencia respecto a la teología y la metafísica puede haber tenido algunos antecedentes en la Baja Edad Media. En primer lugar, analizamos la distinción de Tomás de Aquino entre la teología revelada y la racional, así como su defensa de la eficacia de las causas segundas. En segundo lugar, presentamos la tendencia incluso más profunda de Ockham hacia una distinción entre la teología cristiana, la metafísica y la ciencia natural. Sin embargo, los esfuerzos de estos autores para defender una ciencia autónoma con fundamentos filosóficos no parecen haber tenido un real impacto en el proceso que siguió para distinguir a la ciencia de la especulación. | |
| dc.description | We discuss here if the process of progressive autonomy of science from theology and metaphysics might have had some antecedents in the Later Middle Ages. Firstly, we analyze Aquinas's distinction between revealed and rational theology, as well as his defense of the efficacy of secondary causes. Secondly, we present Ockham's even deeper tendency towards a distinction between Christian theology, metaphysics and natural science. Nevertheless, their effort to support an autonomous science with philosophical foundations is not likely to have had real impact on the following process of distinguishing science from speculation. | |
